About the UAE Overtime Pay Calculator
UAE Labour Law entitles private-sector employees to extra pay for hours worked beyond their normal schedule: 25% extra for regular daytime overtime, and 50% extra for overtime worked between 10pm and 4am. This calculator applies MOHRE's standard formula to your basic salary.
How it works
- Daily wage = basic monthly salary ÷ 30 days.
- Hourly wage = daily wage ÷ 8 hours.
- Normal overtime pay = hourly wage × overtime hours × 1.25.
- Night overtime pay (10pm-4am) = hourly wage × overtime hours × 1.50.
Assumptions and behaviour
- Uses the standard MOHRE formula: a 30-day month and an 8-hour workday to derive the hourly rate.
- Overtime is calculated on basic salary only — housing, transport and other allowances are excluded, per labour law.
- Assumes overtime is worked on a normal working day — rest-day or public-holiday overtime carries a different rule (a compensatory day off plus 50% premium, or 150% pay if no day off is given), not covered here.
Limitations
- Doesn't calculate rest-day or public-holiday overtime rules separately.
- Maximum overtime is legally capped at 2 extra hours per day — this calculator doesn't enforce that cap, so double-check your inputs are realistic.
- Estimates only — not legal advice.
