About the Signature Generator
This creates a signature image you can drop into documents — a PDF contract, a Word file, an email footer, or a design. Two ways to make one: draw it freehand with a mouse, trackpad or touchscreen (best with a stylus or finger on a tablet), or type your name and render it in a handwriting-style font. The result downloads as a transparent PNG, so it sits cleanly over a document without a white box around it.
How it works
- Draw mode captures your strokes on a canvas using pointer events, so it works with mouse, touch and stylus. You can set the pen colour and thickness.
- Type mode renders your typed name centred on a canvas in your chosen signature font and colour.
Either way, the canvas background is left transparent, and the image is exported as a PNG with transparency — meaning only the ink shows when you place it over other content, with no opaque rectangle behind it.
Assumptions and behaviour
- The exported PNG has a transparent background, so it overlays documents cleanly.
- Draw mode works best with a touchscreen and stylus or finger; a mouse works but is harder to sign smoothly with.
- Type mode uses a handwriting-style font and centres your name; colour is adjustable.
- Clearing resets the canvas (or the typed name) so you can try again.
Limitations
- It produces a PNG image only — no SVG, and no direct embedding into a PDF (download the PNG, then insert it where you need it).
- A typed signature is a font, so it won't look like your real handwriting; draw mode is closer to a genuine signature.
- An image of a signature is not, by itself, a legally binding electronic signature. Whether a signature is legally valid depends on your jurisdiction and the document — for formal agreements, a proper e-signature service with identity verification and an audit trail may be required. This tool makes the graphic, not the legal framework.
- Because it's just an image, it can be copied and reused by anyone who has the file — treat it with care.
Privacy
Your signature is created entirely in your browser and never uploaded or stored. It exists only as the image you download.
