About the Random Word Generator
This throws out random English words — or simple random sentences — to spark ideas. It's a small creativity engine for word games like Pictionary and charades, writing prompts to beat a blank page, brainstorming names and themes, vocabulary practice, or picking a random word to draw or improvise around. Choose words or sentences and how many you want, then copy the batch.
How it works
Words are pulled at random from a built-in list of 724 common English words. In words mode you get single words; in sentences mode it strings together a handful of random words (4–9) and adds a capital and full stop to form a grammar-free sentence — useful as an absurd prompt rather than meaningful text. You can generate up to 100 items at once and copy them all together.
Assumptions and behaviour
- Words come from a fixed list of 724 common English words.
- Sentences are random word salad — capitalised and full-stopped for shape, but not grammatical or meaningful by design.
- Repeats can occur across a batch, since each pick is independent.
- Up to 100 words or sentences per generation.
Limitations
- This is a creativity tool, not a cryptographic one. It uses ordinary randomness, which is perfect for games and prompts but not suitable for passwords or security — use the Passphrase Generator for that, which draws the same kind of words with secure randomness.
- The vocabulary is limited to the built-in list, so you won't get rare, technical or proper-noun words.
- 'Sentences' are deliberately nonsensical; they won't read as natural language.
- English only.
