About the PDF Page Extractor
This pulls specific pages out of a PDF into a new, smaller PDF — you just type which ones you want. It accepts natural page-range syntax: single pages (3), lists (3, 5, 7), ranges (7-12), and any combination (1-5, 10, 15-20). As you type, the matching pages light up on the thumbnail grid so you can confirm your selection visually before extracting. It's the quick way to grab a chapter, a set of invoices, or just the pages you need from a big document.
How it works
The PDF is rendered to page thumbnails in your browser with pdf.js (the same engine as the visual PDF Organiser), purely for reference. Your page-range text is parsed into a list of page numbers and validated against the document's real page count — anything out of range is flagged. When you click Extract, the tool copies exactly those pages, in the order given, into a fresh PDF using pdf-lib, and downloads it. Nothing is uploaded.
Page-range syntax
- Single page:
4 - List:
2, 5, 9 - Range:
7-12(both-and–work) - Combination:
1-5, 10, 15-20
Pages are extracted in the order you list them, so 5, 1, 3 gives a PDF with page 5 first. Duplicates are ignored.
Limitations
- It extracts whole pages; it doesn't crop or edit page content.
- A page number greater than the document's page count is rejected with a clear message rather than silently skipped.
- For drag-to-reorder, rotating or deleting pages, use the visual PDF Organiser instead — this tool is focused on fast range-based extraction.
- Encrypted/password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first.
Privacy
Rendering (pdf.js) and extraction (pdf-lib) both run in your browser. Your PDF is never uploaded or stored.
