About Merge PDF
This joins several separate PDFs into one continuous document. It's the everyday fix for assembling a single file out of parts: combining chapters or sections into one report, stapling a cover letter to a CV, merging signed pages back with the original contract, or gathering scanned receipts and statements into one submission. Add the files, remove any you added by mistake, and download the combined PDF.
Because it runs on your device, confidential documents — contracts, financial statements, IDs — never get uploaded.
How it works
Each PDF you add is loaded with pdf-lib in your browser, and its pages are copied — as real vector pages, not pictures — into a new document, top to bottom, in the order listed. The result is saved as a fresh PDF and downloaded. Because pages are copied rather than rasterised, text stays selectable and searchable, and vector graphics stay sharp at any zoom. Nothing is re-compressed.
Assumptions and defaults
- Files are merged in the order shown, which is the order you added them; you can remove any file before merging with the × button.
- Only files recognised as PDFs are accepted; other file types are ignored on drop.
- The merged file is named
merged.pdf. - Original page sizes and orientations are kept as-is — merging an A4 and a Letter document produces a PDF with mixed page sizes rather than normalising them.
Limitations
- No page-level reordering. You control the order of whole files, and can remove a file, but you can't drag to reorder or rearrange individual pages within this tool.
- Encrypted or password-protected PDFs can't be read and will stop the merge with an error — remove the protection first.
- Interactive extras may not carry over. Page content, text and most annotations are copied, but document-level features like bookmarks/outlines, and some form fields or embedded scripts, may be dropped in the merged file.
- Everything is held in memory, so merging a very large number of big PDFs is bounded by your device's available RAM.
Privacy
Your PDFs are combined in the browser with pdf-lib. No file is uploaded, stored, or sent anywhere — the merge happens entirely on your device.
