About converting PNG to WebP
This converts PNG images to WebP entirely in your browser. PNG is a lossless format that keeps every pixel exactly and supports transparency, at the cost of larger files — ideal for graphics, screenshots and logos. WebP is a modern format that is usually smaller than JPG or PNG at the same quality and supports transparency, though a few older programs cannot open it. Converting PNG to WebP shrinks graphics and screenshots for the web while keeping transparency. The conversion runs on your device using the Canvas API, so your images are never uploaded.
How it works
Your PNG image is decoded and redrawn onto an HTML canvas, then re-encoded as WebP. Because WebP is a lossy format, a quality slider lets you balance file size against detail. The pixel dimensions are kept the same — only the format changes. WebP supports transparency, so transparent areas are preserved.
Good to know
Very old software may not open WebP, and lossy WebP can slightly soften the sharp edges PNG preserves perfectly — use higher quality for crisp graphics.
Privacy
Conversion happens entirely in your browser with the Canvas API. Your PNG images and the WebP result are never uploaded or stored. Re-encoding also strips any embedded metadata, such as camera info or GPS location.
