About the QR Code Generator
This turns any text or URL into a QR code you can download and use anywhere — a poster or flyer, a business card, product packaging, a menu, an event sign, or a slide. Unlike many online generators, these codes have no watermark, no tracking redirect, and no expiry: the QR encodes your data directly, so it keeps working forever and doesn't route scans through anyone's server. Download as a PNG for print or an SVG for crisp scaling.
How it works
Your text is encoded into a QR matrix in your browser and drawn to a canvas, updating live as you type. You can customise:
- Size — the pixel dimensions of the PNG.
- Colours — the dark (foreground) and light (background) colours.
- Error correction — level L, M, Q or H (see below).
Export as a PNG (raster, ideal for screens and quick print) or SVG (vector, scales to any size without blurring — best for large-format print). Because the data is embedded in the code itself, it's a static QR that never expires.
About error correction
QR codes include redundancy so they still scan when partly dirty, damaged or obscured. The level sets how much:
- L ≈ 7% recoverable, M ≈ 15%, Q ≈ 25%, H ≈ 30%.
Higher levels survive more damage (and let you place a logo over the centre) but pack the data more densely, so the code holds less before it grows. M is a sensible default; use H if the code will be printed small or might get scuffed.
Assumptions and limitations
- It creates static QR codes — the content is fixed in the image. That's a feature (no expiry, no tracking) but means you can't edit the destination later without generating a new code.
- Capacity is finite. The more text you encode (and the higher the error-correction level), the denser and larger the code. Very long text produces a code that's hard to scan, especially when printed small — prefer a short URL.
- Contrast matters. Scanners expect a dark code on a light background; low-contrast or inverted colours (light on dark) may not scan reliably. Keep a clear quiet-zone margin around it.
- It encodes whatever you type; it doesn't shorten URLs or verify that a link works.
Privacy
The QR code is generated entirely in your browser and the data is embedded directly in the image — nothing is uploaded, and scans don't pass through any server of ours.
