About PNG to PDF
This combines one or more PNG images into a single PDF, one image per page. PNG is the format screenshots, exported diagrams, logos and design mock-ups usually come in, so this is the tool for turning a run of screenshots into a shareable document, packaging UI exports for a client, or making a printable sheet from graphics that need crisp edges and no compression artefacts.
Everything runs locally, which suits internal screenshots or design work you don't want passing through a third-party server.
Working with JPG photos instead, or a mix of formats? See JPG to PDF or Images to PDF.
How it works
Each PNG is embedded into a new PDF using pdf-lib in your browser. PNG is a lossless format, and the images are embedded losslessly too, so sharp text and hard edges in screenshots and diagrams stay crisp. Page layout options:
- Fit to image — the page matches the image exactly, no margin.
- A4 (595.28 × 841.89 pt) or US Letter (612 × 792 pt) — the image is scaled to fit within your margin (0–80 pt) and centred, aspect ratio preserved.
- Orientation auto (based on the image shape), portrait, or landscape.
Images become pages in the order added.
Assumptions and defaults
- One image per page, in add order.
- Fit to image maps 1 pixel to 1 PDF point (1⁄72 inch), so a large screenshot produces a physically large page. For printing, pick A4 or Letter.
- PNG transparency: transparent areas are embedded as-is. On a PDF page (which has no inherent background) they'll appear against whatever is behind — effectively white when printed or viewed normally.
- Default margin on A4/Letter is 24 pt.
Limitations
- File size: PNG is uncompressed-ish by nature, and it's embedded losslessly, so PDFs from large or numerous PNG screenshots can be big. There's no compression option here — if size matters more than fidelity, converting the PNGs to JPG first will shrink the result.
- No reordering or removing after adding — pages follow add order; clear and re-add to change the sequence.
- Corrupted images will stop the build with an error message.
- Batch size is bounded by your device's memory, since all work is done locally.
- Need to go the other way and pull images back out of a PDF? Use PDF to PNG.
Privacy
PNGs are converted in your browser with pdf-lib. No image or PDF is uploaded or stored anywhere.
