About the Lorem Ipsum Generator
Lorem Ipsum is the classic placeholder text designers and developers drop into a layout before the real copy exists. Its scrambled pseudo-Latin looks like natural language but is meaningless, so it fills space realistically without the reader getting distracted by the words — which is exactly why it's preferred over typing "text text text." Use it to mock up a web page, app screen, print layout, email template, or component, choosing how much you need by paragraphs, sentences or words.
How it works
It assembles text from the traditional Lorem Ipsum vocabulary. Pick the unit and amount:
- Words — a run of random Lorem words.
- Sentences — random-length sentences (roughly 6–15 words), capitalised and punctuated, with the occasional comma for a natural rhythm.
- Paragraphs — several sentences grouped into each paragraph.
An option starts the output with the familiar "Lorem ipsum…" opening for that instantly-recognisable placeholder look. Generate up to 100 units and copy in one click.
Assumptions and behaviour
- Text is built from the standard Lorem Ipsum word set, so it reads like the placeholder everyone recognises.
- Sentence and paragraph lengths vary randomly within sensible ranges to mimic real prose rhythm.
- The "start with Lorem ipsum" option forces the conventional opening; without it, the text starts on a random word.
- Output is plain text, ready to paste anywhere.
Limitations
- It's deliberately meaningless. The pseudo-Latin has no real content — that's the point, but it means you can't use it as actual copy.
- It's English-Latin placeholder, not a sample of any real language, and won't reflect the character width or accents of, say, German or CJK text — worth remembering if you're testing a layout for a specific language.
- It generates plain text only — no HTML tags, headings or list markup.
- Real content almost always differs in length from the placeholder, so a layout that fits Lorem Ipsum perfectly may still need adjusting for the final copy.
