About the Invoice Generator
This lets freelancers, contractors and small businesses create a clean, professional invoice and download it as a PDF — no accounting software, no sign-up, and no watermark on the result. Fill in your details, your client's details, an invoice number and date, and the work you're billing for; the totals calculate themselves. It's built for the common case of needing to bill someone quickly and look professional doing it.
How it works
You add line items — each with a description, quantity and rate — and the tool multiplies quantity by rate for each line, sums them into a subtotal, applies a tax rate you enter (as a percentage), and shows the grand total, all updating live. You can set the currency symbol. When you're ready, it generates an A4 PDF in your browser using the jsPDF library and downloads it — with selectable text, not a flat image.
Assumptions and behaviour
- Line totals are quantity × rate; the subtotal is their sum.
- Tax is a single percentage applied to the subtotal, added to give the total.
- You choose the currency symbol; the tool doesn't convert between currencies.
- The PDF is A4 with selectable text, so it prints cleanly and can be read by other software.
Limitations
- One tax rate for the whole invoice. It doesn't support per-line tax, multiple tax types, or compound taxes — for complex tax situations you'd adjust the figures yourself.
- Nothing is saved. There's no stored client list, no automatic invoice numbering across sessions, and no record kept — each invoice is a one-off PDF. Keep your own copies.
- It's a document generator, not accounting software — it won't track payments, send reminders, or report on what's owed.
- Layout is a single clean template; it isn't a full design editor.
Privacy
The invoice is built entirely in your browser and the PDF is generated on your device. None of your details — yours or your client's — are uploaded or stored anywhere.
