About the Markdown Previewer
This shows you what your Markdown will look like as you write it, rendered live beside your text. It's for the moment you're drafting a README, a forum or GitHub comment, documentation, or notes, and want to check the formatting — that the headings, lists, links, tables and code blocks come out right — without committing, posting, or switching to another app. Type on one side, see the formatted result on the other.
How it works
Your input is parsed by marked, a well-established Markdown engine, and the rendered HTML is displayed in the preview pane in real time. It supports the everyday Markdown you'd expect: headings, bold and italic, links and images, ordered and unordered lists, blockquotes, inline code and fenced code blocks, tables, and horizontal rules. Single line breaks are honoured, so text wraps the way you typed it. Unlike a converter, this focuses on the preview — it's for writing and checking, not exporting HTML.
Assumptions and behaviour
- Follows standard / GitHub-flavoured Markdown, including tables and fenced code blocks.
- Single newlines become line breaks, matching how most editors and comment boxes behave.
- Raw HTML in your Markdown is rendered as-is in the preview, so you can mix HTML and Markdown.
- The preview reflects your current text instantly, with no button to press.
Limitations
- The preview is unstyled beyond basic rendering. It shows structure and formatting, but the exact look on GitHub, your CMS or your site depends on their own styles — a heading or code block may appear differently there.
- Markdown flavours vary. A platform-specific extension (task lists on some sites, footnotes, emoji shortcodes) may render here differently, or not at all, from how your target platform does it.
- It renders a preview; if you need the HTML source to copy, use the Markdown to HTML tool instead.
- Raw HTML is rendered unsanitised, so don't paste untrusted Markdown and rely on the preview being safe.
Privacy
Rendering runs entirely in your browser. Your Markdown is never uploaded or stored.
