About the Watermark Tool
This stamps a text watermark over an image — your name, brand, website, or a notice like "DRAFT" or "CONFIDENTIAL." Photographers, designers and creators use it to mark ownership before sharing work online, and businesses use it to label proofs and samples. You can place it discreetly in a corner or tile it across the whole image so it can't easily be cropped out.
How it works
Your image is drawn to a canvas and the watermark text is painted on top, with controls for:
- Text — whatever you type.
- Size — scaled relative to the image, so it looks consistent on large and small photos.
- Colour and opacity — from a bold stamp to a subtle, semi-transparent mark.
- Placement — a single mark in a corner or the centre, or tiled as a repeating diagonal pattern across the entire image.
The watermark is baked into the exported PNG.
Assumptions and behaviour
- The watermark is text, sized as a percentage of the image's smaller side so it scales sensibly.
- Tiled mode repeats the text on a diagonal across the whole image, which is much harder to crop out than a single corner mark.
- Opacity lets you balance visibility against not obscuring the photo.
- The result is exported as a PNG with the watermark permanently drawn in.
Limitations
- Text watermarks only — it doesn't overlay a logo or image watermark.
- A visible watermark deters casual reuse but isn't tamper-proof. A determined person could crop a corner mark, or clone/paint it out; tiling makes that harder but not impossible. It's a deterrent, not DRM.
- It applies one watermark style at a time (single position or tiled), on one image.
- Output is PNG; convert or compress afterwards if you need a smaller file.
Privacy
Watermarking runs entirely in your browser with the Canvas API. Your image is never uploaded or stored.
