About the Crop PDF tool
Crop PDF trims a fixed margin off the top, bottom, left and right of every page in a PDF — useful for removing scanner borders, watermarked edges, wide margins on scanned books, or excess white space before printing.
How it works
Upload a PDF and the first page renders as a live preview. Drag the four sliders to set how much to trim from each side (as a percentage of the page), watch the dimmed preview update, then click Crop & download. The same crop is applied to every page in the document.
Assumptions and behaviour
- Crop is applied as a percentage of each page's own size, so it scales correctly even if pages differ in size.
- Uses the PDF's crop box, not rasterization — text stays selectable and file size barely changes.
- The same margins apply to every page in the document; per-page custom cropping isn't supported.
- Content outside the crop box is hidden, not deleted — most viewers respect the crop box, but the original content technically remains in the file.
Limitations
- No freeform drag-to-select crop box yet — margins are set as percentages via sliders.
- Rotated pages or pages with unusual crop/media boxes may not preview pixel-perfectly, though the underlying math still applies correctly per page.
- Encrypted or password-protected PDFs can't be processed.
Privacy
The PDF is cropped entirely in your browser using pdf-lib. Nothing is uploaded or stored.
