About the Personal Loan EMI Calculator
This works out the fixed monthly EMI for a standard reducing-balance personal loan in India, along with the total interest you'll pay over the full loan tenure.
How it works
It uses the standard reducing-balance EMI formula: the annual interest rate is converted to a monthly rate, and the loan tenure in years is converted to months, then solved for the fixed monthly instalment that pays off the loan exactly by the end of the tenure.
Assumptions and behaviour
- Assumes a fixed interest rate for the full tenure — personal loan rates are typically fixed, unlike floating-rate home loans.
- Models a standard reducing-balance loan where each EMI is a mix of principal and interest.
- Loan tenure is entered in years and converted to months internally.
Limitations
- Doesn't include processing fees, which lenders commonly charge upfront (often 1–3% of the loan amount) and which effectively raise the true cost of borrowing.
- Not a loan pre-approval — your actual approved rate depends on your credit score and the lender's own criteria.

Frequently asked questions
Is this personal loan EMI calculator free?
Yes — free, no sign-up, no limits, runs in your browser.
What formula does it use?
The standard reducing-balance EMI formula: EMI = P × r × (1+r)^n / ((1+r)^n − 1), where P is the loan amount, r is the monthly interest rate, and n is the number of monthly instalments.
Does this include the processing fee lenders charge?
No, it only calculates EMI on the principal and interest rate you enter. Add any processing fee separately to see your true cost of borrowing.
Why are personal loan interest rates higher than home loan rates?
Personal loans are usually unsecured (no collateral), so lenders charge a higher rate to offset the greater risk compared with a secured loan like a home or car loan.
Is my data uploaded?
No. Everything runs locally in your browser; nothing is sent or stored.
