About the Delhi Stamp Duty Calculator
Delhi charges stamp duty on property registration based on the property value and the gender of the owner(s). A male buyer pays 6%, a female buyer pays 4%, and a joint purchase between a male and female pays 5%. On top of stamp duty, a flat 1% registration fee applies to all owner types. This calculator adds both together to show your total charges.
How it works
Enter the property value and select the owner type. The calculator multiplies the value by the applicable stamp duty percentage for that owner type, then adds a flat 1% registration fee on the same value, to give you the total amount payable at registration.
Assumptions and behaviour
- Uses the standard gender-based rate — male 6%, female 4%, joint (male + female) 5%.
- Registration fee is a flat 1% of property value regardless of owner type.
- Assumes a standard residential purchase in Delhi with no additional cesses or surcharges.
Limitations
- Does not account for any circle rate vs. transaction value mismatch — Delhi charges duty on whichever is higher.
- Special categories (e.g. gift deeds, certain family transfers) may attract different rates not covered here.
- Rates are periodically revised — confirm the current rate with the Delhi Revenue Department before registration.
