About converting JPG to PNG
This converts JPG images to PNG entirely in your browser. JPG is the universal format for photographs, with small lossy files and no transparency. PNG is a lossless format that keeps every pixel exactly and supports transparency, at the cost of larger files — ideal for graphics, screenshots and logos. You usually convert a JPG to PNG to get a lossless copy for editing, or because a tool or upload form specifically requires PNG. The conversion runs on your device using the Canvas API, so your images are never uploaded.
How it works
Your JPG image is decoded and redrawn onto an HTML canvas, then re-encoded as PNG. PNG is lossless, so no quality is thrown away in the encoding. The pixel dimensions are kept the same — only the format changes. PNG supports transparency, so transparent areas are preserved.
Good to know
PNG is lossless, so a photo saved as PNG becomes noticeably larger than the JPG — and since the JPG was already lossy, converting to PNG cannot recover detail or add transparency that was never there.
Privacy
Conversion happens entirely in your browser with the Canvas API. Your JPG images and the PNG result are never uploaded or stored. Re-encoding also strips any embedded metadata, such as camera info or GPS location.
