About converting GIF to JPG
This converts GIF images to JPG entirely in your browser. GIF is an old format limited to 256 colours that supports simple animation and 1-bit transparency. JPG is the universal format for photographs, with small lossy files and no transparency. Converting a GIF to JPG produces a small, static photo-style image. The conversion runs on your device using the Canvas API, so your images are never uploaded.
How it works
Your GIF image is decoded and redrawn onto an HTML canvas, then re-encoded as JPG. Because JPG is a lossy format, a quality slider lets you balance file size against detail. The pixel dimensions are kept the same — only the format changes. JPG does not support transparency, so any transparent areas in the source become a solid background.
Good to know
Only a single (first) frame is captured — animation is lost — and JPG discards the transparency GIF may have had.
Privacy
Conversion happens entirely in your browser with the Canvas API. Your GIF images and the JPG result are never uploaded or stored. Re-encoding also strips any embedded metadata, such as camera info or GPS location.
Preguntas frecuentes
Is this GIF to JPG converter free?
Yes — 100% free, no sign-up, no watermark, and no limits. It runs entirely in your browser.
Are my GIF images uploaded to a server?
No. Conversion runs on your device with the Canvas API, so your images never leave your browser.
What happens to transparency?
JPG can't store transparency, so transparent areas become a solid background. Convert to PNG or WebP instead if you need to keep transparency.
Will the image quality change?
JPG is a lossy format, so there's some compression — use the quality slider to balance file size against detail.
What happens to an animated GIF?
Only a single frame is converted. JPG here is a still image, so any animation in the GIF is lost.
Does it change the image dimensions?
No. The width and height stay the same — only the file format changes. Use the Resize Image tool if you also need to change the size.
Does converting remove my photo's metadata?
Yes. Re-encoding through the canvas strips embedded metadata like camera details and GPS location — a small privacy bonus.
