How it works

Your AVIF image is decoded and redrawn onto an HTML canvas, then re-encoded as PNG. PNG is lossless, so no quality is thrown away in the encoding. The pixel dimensions are kept the same — only the format changes. PNG supports transparency, so transparent areas are preserved.

Your browser must support AVIF decoding, and the PNG will be larger than the highly-efficient AVIF original.
